ACE Survey Award

Winner of 2013 ACE Survey Award

Frankfurt Airport has once again received the Air Cargo Excellence (ACE) Award as "Best Cargo Airport in Europe" for 2013 in the category for hubs handling more than one million metric tons per year. Established in 2005, the ACE Survey is conducted annually by Air Cargo World: a leading international trade magazine based in Atlanta.

Since European airports were added to the survey in 2006, FRA has won the ACE Award a total of five times (2006, 2007, 2009, 2012 and again in 2013) and has taken second place three times (2008, 2010, 2011).

"The ACE award is a great honor – not only for the Fraport Group but also for the entire cargo community at Frankfurt Airport. This underscores that our close and fruitful cooperation with the many airlines and logistics companies clustered at Frankfurt Airport City is creating positive synergies. FRA’s success story, as a global cargo hub, benefits all of the businesses here and also contributes to employment in the region," commented Anke Giesen, Fraport AG’s executive board member for ground handling. Currently, about 78,000 people are employed at Frankfurt Airport, which has the distinction of being Germany’s largest employment complex at a single location.

Handling 2.06 million metric tons in 2012, Frankfurt Airport ranks as Europe's top cargo hub and number eight worldwide. With another 27 hectares of development land in CargoCity South now being marketed, the Frankfurt Airport company is meeting the growing demand from the logistics industry for building sites directly at the airport. "Germany benefits from the global division of work – thus, as an infrastructure operator we serve as a vital and reliable partner for the German economy," stressed Giesen.
