With effect on July 1, 2017 Fraport AG created a Joint Establishment together with its subsidiaries Fraport Ground Services GmbH and FRA Vorfeldkontrolle GmbH. Its purpose is to provide aviation-related services while focusing primarily on ground handling. Fraport Ground Services GmbH is also responsible for keeping the runways free of snow and ice in the winter and providing personnel for deicing aircraft at Frankfurt Airport.
This arrangement’s strengths include highly flexible deployment of our personnel and the ability to assemble a large workforce for handling seasonal fluctuations in demand. Fraport Ground Services GmbH currently has 5,000 employees who are flexibly assigned as needed for performing a wide range of tasks in connection with ground traffic and in and around the terminals.
Our portfolio of services includes baggage and aircraft handling for both passenger and cargo flights in addition to moving passengers, baggage, and freight. We’re also responsible for providing technical services. Our staff enjoy opportunities to upgrade their qualifications and be promoted to operational management roles.

To achieve this and optimally meet the market’s requirements, Fraport Ground Services GmbH flexibly adapts its internal organization on an ongoing basis. This includes training our employees and steadily upgrading their knowledge and skills. To meet the wishes of all of our customers in collaboration with Fraport AG’s ground services division, we have an intelligently designed and structured system in place for quickly and competently responding as required.
Across all areas, we attach top priority to steadily implementing improvements to ensure top quality while complying with all laws and legal requirements on workplace safety and health protection.
In doing so, Fraport Ground Services GmbH obeys the specifications of DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and all relevant legal requirements and ordinances, in addition to applying the value management principles of Fraport AG. Across all processes, we apply the standards for environmental management defined by ISO 14001 and the European Union’s Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
As part of the Joint Establishment with Fraport AG and FRA Vorfeldkontrolle GmbH, we adopt all processes of Fraport AG in which employees of all three organizations work together as our own. We consistently work in line with them and integrate the corresponding documents in our own system. The social skills, technical knowledge, and practical experience of our employees are important.
